In an ideal world, the process of moving from one property into another would be something that doesn’t take too long and can be done in an efficient and linear manner, but if you have ever had to do it before, you know that that isn’t always the case! In the run up to moving day, you want to make sure that you are equipped to handle the first night in your new place even if all of your boxes and possessions haven’t arrived yet, especially if you have children or pets. With this in mind, here are some tips for what to include in your ‘first night boxes’, from the experience of professional Alhambra movers!
All Of Your Toiletries
One of the things that you will definitely need is all of your toiletries! Think about packing a box filled with things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, towels, hair brushes and hand soap, and having the reassurance that you have all of these things even if you furniture isn’t even arrived yet means that you can stay nice and fresh to tackle the larger moving challenges over the next few days.
Bed Linens For Comfortable Sleep
Being able to get a good night’s sleep after the first day of moving is really important, so make sure that you definitely have a set of bed linens to use, or at the very least things like a sleeping bag and pillows if you don’t even have a bed frame yet! You don’t want to arrive at your new place only to realize that you don’t have anywhere to sleep or anything to sleep on!
In the first day or so when not everything has arrived yet, it can be a great help to have cleaning supplies as one of your first boxes so that you have given all of your new surfaces and floors a good wipe down before everything else arrives and needs to be put in place. The people who moved out will hopefully have performed a deep clean beforehand, but it can never hurt to be extra tidy when you have the opportunity!
Make sure you have pajamas and nighttime essentials. This might include a night light or a teddy bear. Regardless of age, the kids’ first night box should include anything that will stop them from complaining or being homesick and keeps them entertained as you try to get organized.
First Aid And Medication
You never know when somebody in your family might have an accident or fall ill, so one of the most important things to know you have at your new place right away is first aid supplies and common medications. After all, moving house can sometimes be a risky business that has the potential to cause an injury!
